This year marks a major milestone—Stedman Solutions is celebrating 10 years in business! What started as a passion for SQL Server and a desire to help businesses optimize their databases has grown into a trusted SQL Server consulting and managed services firm. Over the last decade, we have worked with companies of all sizes, tackled thousands of performance issues, rescued countless corrupted databases, and developed industry-leading tools like Database Health Monitor.
Looking Back: The Journey of Stedman Solutions
In this special Stedman SQL Podcast episode, I take a moment to reflect on how Stedman Solutions came to be. When I founded the company 10 years ago, I was already deep into SQL Server, having worked with it since the early 1990s. I had seen firsthand how businesses struggled with database performance, corruption, and administration, often lacking the expertise needed to keep things running smoothly.
Starting out as a solo consultant, I quickly realized that the need for specialized SQL Server expertise was far greater than I had anticipated. Over the years, we grew into a team of highly skilled SQL Server professionals, expanding our services to include managed SQL Server support, emergency corruption repair, performance tuning, and mentoring for in-house IT teams.
The last 10 years have been full of learning experiences. Some of the most important lessons include:
- Performance tuning never stops – SQL Server continues to evolve, and new challenges emerge with every version.
- Preventative maintenance is key – So many major database failures could have been avoided with proactive care.
- Businesses need more than just consultants – They need trusted SQL Server specialists who not only fix problems but also educate teams to prevent future issues.
